The Confucius Chinese Language School was founded in 1989 and was officially registered with the State of California as a nonprofit educational institution in 1993.
For the past thirty-seven years, the school has remained committed to its mission of preserving Chinese culture and promoting Chinese language education. It strives to provide children of overseas Chinese families with a high-quality Chinese learning environment. In response to evolving educational needs and learning trends, the curriculum incorporates both Zhuyin (Bopomofo) and Pinyin instructions, while also teaching students to write Traditional Chinese characters and recognize Simplified Chinese characters. Students will develop an understanding of the differences between Chinese and Western cultures. The school also places strong emphasis on humanities education. While learning Chinese language and literature, students are guided to appreciate the rich traditions and ethical values of Chinese culture.
The school is recognized by the Walnut Valley Unified School District as a credit-granting program and is also a designated school under the district’s Federal Language Assistance Program (FLAP) for Chinese instruction. Our teaching philosophy emphasizes practicality and real-life application, enabling students to use Chinese in everyday life while preparing them to continue Chinese studies at the college level and to meet future societal needs. The school is committed to providing comprehensive and diverse Chinese language education.
In addition, the school actively provides students with opportunities to showcase their learning achievements and encourages participation in various cultural and academic activities. These include poetry recitation, calligraphy (hard-pen), essay writing, speech contests, poster design competitions, youth Chinese cultural knowledge contests, talent performances, and the Haihua Sports Meet organized by the Southern California Council of Chinese Schools.
Our school also offers a variety of enrichment and talent courses, including Chinese kung fu, arts and crafts, Chinese chess, Chinese brush pen calligraphy, handicrafts, dance, ball sports, cultural knowledge, conversational Chinese, and a “Little Broadcaster” program. Through these programs, the school aims to cultivate well-rounded students who develop balanced growth in moral character, intellectual ability, physical fitness, social development, and teamwork, while embracing the rich traditions and virtues of Chinese culture.
